Harald Kurt Tauber

was born on 30 August 1971 in Eisenstadt (Burgenland) but grew up in Upper Austria. After finishing primary school, he attended the music class of the BORG (secondary school) Wiener Neustadt (Lower Austria). There, he first played the trumpet. At the age of 16, however, he already took singing lessons and, after getting his A-levels, he soon received a scho-
larship in order to start his studies of singing pedagogics at the Josef Matthias Hauer Conservatory in Wiener Neustadt. Meanwhile, he success-
fully participated as a singer in a double quartet in several singing compe-
titions in Lower Austria and Vienna.

After graduating, he moved to the state capital Vienna and completed a further study in the field of "musical, operetta and chanson" under the direction of Lilo Mrazek and Robert Opratko with honour at the local conservatory. During his education, he already played some leading roles in Goethe's DIE MITSCHULDIGEN, Mozart's BASTIEN and BASTIENNE, ARIAN - DAS KELTENMUSICAL, INTO THE WOODS, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. Right after graduating, he was hired for the world premiere of TANZ DER VAMPIRE by the Vereinigte Bühnen Vienna, where he also could be seen in MOZART! and JEKYLL & HYDE later on. Further engagements in Austria and abroad followed, including the German premiere of DRACULA in Tecklenburg and FALCO MEETS AMADEUS at the Wörtherseefestspiele in Klagenfurt. During the German premiere of WE WILL ROCK YOU, where he got the chance to work with the founders of the rockband Queen, Brian May and Roger Taylor, Cologne became his permanent residence.

At the world premiere of TUTANCHAMUN in Gutenstein, Harald Tauber created the role of Ofir and is also featured on the Original Cast record. This collaboration has been continued in the following season when he played the role of Koloman Moser in GUSTAV KLIMT. Two years in a row, he toured Germany as Soloist and Resident Director for MUSICAL FIEBER. During the Freilichtspiele Tecklenburg 2010, he appeared as Duke of Buckingham in 3 MUSKETEERS and as Diesel in WEST SIDE STORY. In 2011, he could be seen as bandleader Alex in WHAT A FEELING at the Frankfurt Komödie and as Dentist/Plant in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at the tic - Theater im Centrum in Kassel. He then played the seaman Jack Driscoll in KING KONG at the KATiELLi Theater in Datteln appeared on stage as Monsignore O'Hara and Curtis Jackson for the Stage Entertainment production SISTER ACT at the Apollo Theater Stuttgart as well as the Metronom Theater in Oberhausen. In 2016-17 he could be seen as Count Rettenberg in LUDWIG² at the Festspielhaus Füssen. At the tic - Theater im Centrum in Kassel, he played Martino Brando in ROCK THE BLOCK - the Elvis musical in 2016, Junior in the world premiere of CAMPINGFIEBER and most recently Pep Strotzkowski in BABYKRACHER - SING! SWING! SCHWANGER! In 2021, he was for the first time engaged for the Schlossfestspiele Biedenkopf, where he played the role of Anschel Eichenbaum in the world premiere of DER STADTBRAND.

In 2015, he made his debut as a stage author and producer with the piece HIMMLISCH GEROCKT at the tic - Theater im Centrum Kassel.

Besides being a musical performer, he organized several galas for the benefit of the Austrian Cancer Aid, produced the CDs "Freiheit" and "Traumwelt" before he founded under his own name a theatrical agency in 2011 and his own band Mates in Rock in 2012. As a music teacher, he worked at the grammar school in Rodenkirchen near Cologne and teaches singing and piano at the music school Söhre-Kaufunger Wald in Kaufungen near Kassel since 2016.

Despite his artistic talent, he is neither related to the famous Austrian tenor Richard Tauber (1891-1948), nor to the Austrian stage actor Harald Tauber (1911-1948).
